WE EXIST BECAUSE PARENTS HAVE ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT JOBS IN THE WORLD.
It all started when...
Steve Markel, our Founder & CEO, and his wife Nancy were raising their five children. He and his wife guided parents in other parenting courses. For many years Steve searched for the reason for the breakdown of the family in our culture. His search came to an end when he discovered what was missing: there was a lack of character being lived and developed in families. Steve is now the CEO of Families of Character.

MORE ABOUT WHAT WE DO:
As parents, we all want to be intentional about how we raise our children. We want our children to grow up to be healthy, well-rounded individuals and positive contributors to society. With a plethora of available parenting programs out there, it can be overwhelming to figure out where to even begin.
We’ll let you into a little secret: there is no magic formula for raising children. There is no shortcut, no overnight solution. It takes hard work, dedication and intentionality. And it takes all the members of your household to create the environment for a healthy family to flourish. It’s not about abdicating your role as parents to different institutions like schools or sports programs. It’s about the small, daily decisions that you make as you interact as a family. Ultimately, a big part of parenting is about raising children to be amazing adults -- equipped to thrive in all sorts of environments as they grow up. The question is, how do you get there?
One step at a time.
Research shows that good character, or virtues, are necessary in order to be successful in any undertaking.
Aristotle once said:
Your thoughts become your actions;
your actions become your habits;
your habits become your character;
and your character becomes your destiny.
This course is focused on building good habits in the home, helping you to become the version of yourself in order to help your family grow in virtue, too. The Families of Character course is comprised of several components:
- Suggested habit-building activities
- Tips and recommendations for family meetings
