Patience allows us to remain calm and not become annoyed when dealing with problems or with difficult people, as well as helping us pay attention to something for a long time without becoming bored or losing interest. It is is one of the fundamental virtues because it helps create an atmosphere of respect, which in turn permits individual growth and maturity. Patience is the virtue that lets kids be kids and learn at their own pace, but it’s also the virtue that helps teach the value of delayed gratification, self-control and the ability to reduce impulsive and acting out behaviors.
